Bangladesh vs Sydney Sixers T20 will be played on Dec 14, 2016 at 01:00pm BDT in North Sydney Oval, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
Bangladesh vs Sydney Sixers T20 match is a chance for both the teams to experiment ahead of BBL and Bangladesh’s tour to New Zealand.
Mashrafe Mortaza will be happy to see Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah vacate higher batting spots and use their experience well to steer Bangladesh to a win, but said he would have liked to use Shuvagata Hom’s offspin at some stage. Shuvagata also failed with the bat many times. It wasn’t new for the experienced batsmen to be doing their job, but seeing them adapt to new roles was pleasing for Bangladesh’s captain.
Sydney Sixers’s experienced duo of Hamilton Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda starting superbly with the bat but the likes of Elton Chigumbura, Sikandar Raza and Malcolm Waller were unable to capitalise on the 101-run opening stand. Sydney Sixers will also be unhappy with their fielding effort, with Sibanda dropping Sabbir Rahman at a crucial stage. Masakadza said he was happy with the bowling attack’s display despite missing Tinashe Panyangara’s control at the top.
There are likely to be changes in both sides in the second BAN vs SYDNEY T20, even if it doesn’t mean personnel changes as much as batsmen and bowlers assuming new roles. But no matter what the team managements are trying, the first T20 was proof that both sets of players weren’t forgetting two fundamental roles while playing T20 cricket: providing entertainment and enjoying themselves. It came down to the last eight balls in the first game, and if the second T20 goes down to the wire it won’t be a huge surprise.
1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Mahmudullah, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim, 5 Shakib Al Hasan, 6 Sabbir Rahman, 7 Nurul Hasan (wk), 8 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 9 Rubel Hossain, 10 Mustafizur Rahman, 11 Taskin Ahmed
1 Moises Henriques, 2 Sean Abbott, 3 Doug Bollinger, 4 Jackson Bird, 5 Johan Botha, 6 Ryan Carters, 7 Ben Dwarshuis, 8 Brad Haddin (wicket-keeper), 9 Josh Hazlewood, 10 Daniel Hughes, 11 Michael Lumb 12 Nathan Lyon 13 Nic Maddinson 15 Joe Mennie 16 Stephen O’Keefe 17 Jason Roy 18 Jordan Silk 19 Mitchell Starc
The North Sydney Oval surface has the feel of a typical bouncy pitch and with shorter boundaries, the team batting first should be able to score 170-190. Dew will be a factor, possibly from around 8.30pm, so the team batting second will have some advantage.
Bangladesh vs Sydney Sixers T20 2016 will not be live telecast on any TV channel.
Chandika Hathurusingha, Head Coach of Bangladesh and former NSW Assistant Coach, said the opportunity to put Bangladesh players up against Sydney Sixers, some of the best short form cricketers in the country would be a good test ahead of their tour.
“We’ll get a lot out of it, playing in different conditions against teams in Australia,” Chandika said.
“Playing a BBL team like Sydney Sixers gives Bangladesh players greater exposure and confidence. North Sydney Oval is great place to play cricket for players and for spectators watch cricket.
“We are grateful for the opportunity.”
On their decision to base their camp at Blacktown International Sports Park, Hathurusingha said conditions and facilities that gave them an opportunity to acclimatise to a similar environment to New Zealand.
“The main purpose of having this camp in Sydney on our way to New Zealand is getting used to conditions closer to what we’re expecting in New Zealand which we can’t create back in Bangladesh. We were impressed with the facility at BISP provided to us during the World Cup in 2015 and that is the reason we choose BISP as well.”
The Bangladesh vs Sydney Sixers match will be ticketed, with adults $10 per ticket and kids under 16 given free entry. Tickets will be available at the gate.
Sydney Sixers General Manager Dom Remond said the Club was expecting a big turnout at North Sydney Oval for the match.
“The Sixers are very excited about hosting the Bangladesh XI at North Sydney Oval as a lead into BBL06,” Remond said.
“The local Bangladesh community will have the opportunity to see Bangladesh national heroes against the full Sydney Sixers squad up close and personal. Playing under lights will add another element to the contest and with a very affordable ticket price of $10 for adults and free for kids under 16, we are expecting a capacity crowd.”
Tickets for the Sixers match at North Sydney Oval at 6pm on Wednesday 14 December will be available on the day at the gate.
