BPL Match-2 Report: Chittagong too strong for Rajshahi

BPL Match-2 Report: Chittagong too strong for Rajshahi

When his compatriot Chris Gayle started the BPL in whirlwind fashion, Dwayne Bravo further lit up the night with a brilliant all-round performance that helped Chittagong Kings ease past Duronto Rajshahi by 53-run in the second match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday. Bravo followed his 18 ball-37 runs knock with three-wicket as expensive team of the tournament Chittagong Kings hardly toiled hard to begin the journey with a big win.

Chittagong middle order batsmen also contributed in the quite easy win despite losing the openers cheaply. On other hand, Rajshahi did not help their cause as they put sloppy fielding effort and missed some valuable catches that allowed Chittagong post a mammoth 206 for four. Later Bravo alongside Enamul Haque Junior ripped through their batting line up to wrap up them for 153 in 19.5 overs.

While Nasir Jamshed and Jasoy Roy set the tune sharing 91-run partnership for the third wicket, skipper Mahmuduallah Ryad and West Indian recruit Dwayne Bravo turned the bat into blade to cut through bowling line-up to add an unbeatable 78 runs off just 34 balls.

Chittagong Kings defeated Duronto Rajshahi easily on BPL Match-2, Feb 10

Rajshahi started well having removed Tamim Iqbal (3) and Jahurul Islam Omee (11) to leave Chittagong a meager 21 for two. The pressure which was created was taken away when Rajshahi fielders missed five catches, including three of Jason Roy.
With the help of luck and pluck, Nasir Jamshed and Jason Roy paved a well platform for the later batsmen. Jamshed blasted 38 ball-56 featuring five fours and three sixes while Jason hit 43 off 25 with three fours and as many sixes. Both of them were removed in the space of six runs but that made no impact on Chittagong since Ryad and Bravo further took them in disdain. They tore apart the bowlers to pile up runs and set an improbable total for Rajshahi.

Ryad was undefeated with 43 off 18 clobbering three fours and as many sixes while Bravo also was unstoppable as he finished with 37 off 18 that featured with three fours and two sixes.

Bravo then picked up two wickets in the opening over with the first and fourth ball having scalped Shane Ervine and Marlon Samuels to pave the way of victory. Amidst the odds, Zunaed Siddique counterattacked to bring back the life in the match but his 23 ball-42 runs knock that featured with five fours and two sixes just delayed the inevitable.

Enamul Haque Junior dazzled alongside Bravo to extend the agony of Rajshahi as the wickets tumbling at regular interval and ensured there would be no contest.
