Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, into the world early on Monday, November 9, 2015. They named her Alayna Hasan Aubrey.
Shakib’s baby girl was delivered at around 2 am at a hospital in New York, several news reports suggest.
In a phone conversation with Shakib’s mother, she said “Both the mother and the newborn healthy daughter are doing fine and currently are out of danger”.
Shakib Al Hasan, who recorded his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI on Saturday, now has added first-time dad to his long list of honors.
Shakib flew off to New York last night (Nov 8) to be with his wife and attend the birth of their child. However, Shakib could not reach there on time to be beside Shishir during the delivery. The ace player was granted one-and-a-half-month leave earlier and was supposed be with his wife to strictly monitor the countdown. But he decided to take part in the Zimbabwe and credit goes to Shishir, as she “didn’t want to see him sad”.
“She told me that it was better for me to come and play rather than sulking there (in USA),” Shakib quoted Shishir.
Earlier on October 26, Shakib took to Facebook to announce the news who is eagerly waiting for the newest member, “A princess” of their family. A visibly delighted Shakib posed for a photo at the baby shower event with his beautiful wife Shishir showing off her growing baby bump.
Shakib and Shishir dated for years before the couple entered wedlock on December 12, 2012. Shishir had moved to the USA to receive better treatment during the last stage of her pregnancy.
Shakib’s baby girl name is Alayna Hasan Aubrey.
Shakib posted a photo on his official Facebook page confirming the news.
Shakib wrote, “On this beautiful Sunday, the 8th of November, 2015, Shishir and I have been blessed by the Almighty with a piece of heaven…Shishir and our little princess are both in good health. Thank you for all your sincere prayers, kind thoughts and warm wishes…Please pray for us and especially our daughter so that she can grow to her full potential with humility, compassion and love for all. Ameen”
