Bangladesh National Football Team for 2018 World Cup Football Qualifying Round matches has been confirmed by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) in a press release on 21st August, 2015. 23 member Bangladesh national football team will play against Malaysia, Australia & Jordan on 28th August, 3rd September & 8th September respectively. Twelve players of the Bangladesh national football team squad has been picked from Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Bangladesh national football team captain Mamunul Islam Mamun will the lead the team against Australia in Group-B Round-2 match of FIFA World Cup Football 2018. Defending Asian champion Australia, also known as Socceroos, will play their second qualifying match against Bangladesh at the nib Stadium in Perth, Australia at 05:00pm BD Time on 3rd September, 2015. This will be Australia’s first match in home ground for this FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifying, and the Australian national football team will be playing in Perth after 10 years. Australia have defeated Kyrgyzstan by 2-1 in their first World Cup Football 2018 qualifying match.
Bangladesh have played two matches on home soil, lost to Kyrgyzstan by 1-3 and drawn with Tajikistan 1-1. After the Bangladesh vs Australia match, BD football team will face Jordan in Dhaka on 8th September, 2015.
Bangladesh National Football Team will fly to Malaysia to play a friendly match against Malaysia national team at Shah Alam Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, before heading towards Perth to play the FIFA World Cup Football 2018 Qualifying Round Match against Australia.
Meanwhile, Football Federation Australia (FFA) has declared a very strong 23 member squad to play against Bangladesh & Tajikistan. Lead by Mile Jedinak, Australian/Socceroos football team have international stars like Tim Cahill, Tom Juric, Robbie Kruse & Mark Milligan.
As per latest national football team ranking by FIFA on 6th August, 2015, Bangladesh national football team ranked 170, while Australia rank is 61. Jordan ranks 92, Kyrgyzstan rank is 156 and Tajikistan 158. Malaysia ranked 168, is the closest opponent of Bangladesh, will face head to head in a friendly match on 28th August, 2015.
