Brendan Taylor sings up with Chittagong Kings for BPL 2012
Brendan Taylor, the Zimbabwe captain, will play in the Bangladesh Premier League after signing up with Chittagong Kings. Though the amount of the deal still unknown.
“We have just signed for Brendan to join the Chittagong Kings for the last three games and the finals in the BPL,” Taylor’s agent said. “The deal was negotiated directly by us with the owner and CEO, Sameer Quader Chowdhury, of the Chittagong Kings.”
Chittagong are currently in third place, with eight points, two behind joint leaders, Khulna Royal Bengals and Duronto Rajshahi.
Taylor has played 54 Twenty20s, averaging 31 at a strike-rate of 122.04. He recently played in New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 league, and smashed a career-best 101 for Wellington.
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) committe has finalized the six icon cricketers for season 1. The selection of six icons from six divisional zones are as follows,
Shakib Al Hasan – Khulna Division
Tamim Iqbal – Chittagong Division
Mohammad Ashraful – Dhaka Division
Mushfiqur Rahim – Rajshahi Division
Shahriar Nafees – Barisal Division
Alok Kapali – Sylhet Divison
This six icons will not be up for player auction on 19th & 20th January 2011. Each will get five percent more than the highest paid player for his respective team.
Beside the icon players, There will be three categories for players payment pool. ‘A’ category players are determine as the highest paid. Then gradually, ‘B’ and ‘C’ list players will get lower lower pays.
Icon player Ashraful says in delight, ‘I have started playing cricket in the Dhaka team and still playing. I am very much happy to be selected as an icon. ‘
Meanwhile Shahriar Nafees amazed by his selection as an icon, ‘There are only six icon cricketers and I am one of them, I really appreciate it. ‘

Icon player of Sylhet, Alok Kapali says, ‘I payed for the national team. Now, as a icon player it will help me as cricketer. I will try to play good cricket to prove my selection. ‘

BPL committee also selected a list of local players, will be up for auction on 19th January 2011. A advisory committee has been formed for BPL. BPL T20 tournament logo will be unveiled on 29th Dec 2011.
Meanwhile, sources said, a Dubai based company has expressed interest to buy a BPL team. Company officials will reach Dhaka on 28th Dec 2011 to sit with BPL committee to discuss & negotiation on all aspects.
BPL 2012 (Bangladesh Premiere League) is a T20 cricket tournament, based on the format of Indian IPL. The 1st edition of the tournament will start on February 10, 2012. A total of 33 matches will be played in Dhaka & Chittagong. Final of BLP T20 Season 1 will be held on 29th February, 2012.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has accepted an offer of approximaely $51million from Indian firm Game On Sports Management for six editions of a Twenty20 competition named BPL 2012, the BCB said on Monday.
The Indian Premier League-style Twenty20 tournament, named the Bangladesh Premier League, BPL 2012, will be launched in February with six franchises.
The BCB picked Game On from three Indians firms who had submitted a financial offer to run the BPL 2012 competition last month.
The offer from Game On is $10million more than the next best offer from Solutionz Unlimited, BCB spokesman Jalal Yunus said.
“Initially Game On will deposit the proportionate amount of guaranteed money for two seasons (BPL 2012 & BPL 2013) to our account,” he said after an emergency BCB meeting.
