BPL T20: Duronto Rajshahi Unveils Team Logo

The ‘Duronto Rajshahi’ eyed to transform their consistent success in the domestic circuit into the money-spinning Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Rajshahi Division have been the most successful side in domestic circuit in any format of cricket in Bangladesh with winning several National Cricket League’s championships. Even they won the first ever NCL Twenty20 trophy which the BCB organized in 2010.
To maintain the spree, they tried to go forward in a planned way. Even before owned the divisional team, the owner of Rajshahi appointed the team staffs which was the sign of a well organized unit.
“We are looking forward to form the best combination team from the forthcoming open bidding of the franchise players,” said the chairman of the Duronto Rajshahi team Mushfiqur Rahman Mohan, who was present in the unveiling logo ceremony as the first franchise-team of BPL T20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The Duronto Rajshahi will try to form their team with king master of Twenty20 West Indian stroke-maker Chris Gayle and Pakistani all-rounder Abdur Razzak, revealed Mushfiqur Rahman Mohan.
Duronto Rajshahi icon player Mushfiqur Rahim unveiled the logo along with some underprivileged students of Jago Foundation, an English medium School, located at Rayerbazar. Childhood, adolescence and youth-these three words were imprinted there.
Mohan later introduced their icon player Mushfiqur Rahim as the captain of the team.
About the team’s name, Mushfiqur Rahman Mohon, said, “We got to know the name ‘Duronto’ from the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s SMS programme that was launched only for the names of the six teams.”
“The name ‘Duronto’ was our first choice and the governing body of the BPL approved that. Duronto is the only Bengali name of a team among the six teams, who are contending in the money-spinning meet of the domestic circuit.”
“We will try to give our best efforts for the team,” the icon player for Rajshahi, Mushfiqur Rahim said.
“It is a positive sign for Bangladeshi players specially our young cricket players, who will get the chance to play, to learn and to share their views with world class players in the tournament,” he added.
“Actually this is a relatively new format of cricket for us. We will try to adapt with the format first and then play our best for the team,” said Mushfiqur Rahim, who will lead the Duronto Rajshahi in the flagship event.
Former national team captain Faruk Ahmed, who was given the charge of the team as team manager, said while answering to a query “Our first work is to form a balanced team with the best players and we will try to purchase them in the players’ auction.”
Khaled Mashud Pilot, who will act as the team’s chief coach said, “Rajshahi is the consistent successful team in NCL. Even they won the NCL Twenty20. We hope to retain our success. We got a good management and want to advance strategically.”
Chief Consultant for the Duronto Rajshahi Athar Ali Khan said, “We have personal contact with some foreign
players and are trying to communicate with others. In the meantime we, the Rajshahi team’s management met together several time to make strategy for the team. The team will try to follow the strategy and recruit the targeted players from the auction of the franchise players.”
