Barisal Burners were wary of their unexposed middle order since they literally had nothing to do in the first two matches largely due to their top order’s scintillating batting in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). As Chris Gayle and Ahmed Shehzad fired at the top of the order, they hardly toiled to post consecutive two victories in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
It was predicted that their middle order would have to face a stern test against Khulna Royal Benglas whom they will take on Monday.
However Barisal middle order batsman Farhad Hossain said they are prepared to take any challenge if Gayle and Shehzad fail to give them the expected start in the crucial match.
“We did not get any chance to bat since our opening batsmen Gayle and Shehzad were in form and delivered two consecutive victories for us,” Farhad told the reporters on Sunday.
“But we all are training hard in the practice session. If we get opportunity to bat, we’ll try to utilise the opportunity in full effect,” added the middle order batsman.
“Gayle and Shehzad are batting tremendously. We expect that they will keep up it in all matches but Barisal Burners are neither Gayle nor Shehzad depended team as Brad Hodge along with Shahriar Nafees slammed a good knock in the last match,” Hossain explained the main reason behind their winning streak.
Khulna skipper Shakib Al Hasan proved him as influential bowler in the cricket’s newest version as well and it is guessed that he could resist the blitz of Gayle and Shehzad. Moreover they got bowlers like Andre Russell and Abdur Razzak who also could be threatening.
Despite Khulna Royal Bengals lost their last match to Chittagong Kings, Barisal had full respect to them. In order to maintain the winning spree, Barisal Burners’ game plan will be to keep Shakib Al Hasan ineffective, said Farhad.
“They got number one all-rounder Shakib in their side. They also had some potential bowlers and batsman like Nasir Hossain and others. We have a definite game plan for them,” he added.
Terming Khulna as the strongest and balanced opponents, Farhad said, “Khulna Royal Bengals are a strong team among the six franchises, so far I think. But if we could maintain our continuation with consistent batting and bowling, it will not be difficult to earn another win.”
“There are a few more foreign aggressive players in the Khulna Royal Bengals. We have to bowl against them maintaining the line and length to get a positive result.”
In the day’s other match Dhaka Gladiators will take on Chittagong Kings which won consecutive two matches against Duronto Rajshahi and Khulna Royal Bengals. Meanwhile renowned Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia will arrive in Dhaka on Monday to witness the BPL matches.
Neha will be present at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to support Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 Franchise Dhaka Gladiators in their match against Chittagong Kings.
